Dr Jack Chen

Jack Chen is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at the Auckland University at Technology, teaching organic chemistry, molecular design and general chemistry. He conducted his PhD and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Auckland with Professor Margaret Brimble, working on the synthesis of spirastrellolide B - a potent protein phosphatase inhibitor with potential anti-cancer properties.

Associate Professor Ebubekir Avci

Ebubekir Avci received his PhD degree in robotics from Osaka University, Japan and was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Toyota Technological Institute, Japan in the field of parallel mechanism robots. Then, he was a Research Associate with the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College, London. Until 2024 Ebu worked at Massey University as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Mechatronics and Robotics, and he is now Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury.

Professor Shaun Hendy

Shaun Hendy is Director of the Te Pūnaha Matatini, a Centre of Research Excellence, and a Professor of Physics at the University of Auckland. Shaun has a PhD in physics from the University of Alberta in Canada and a BSc (Hons) in mathematical physics from Massey University.

Distinguished Professor Dame Margaret Brimble

Margaret Brimble holds the Chair of Organic Chemistry and is Director of Medicinal Chemistry at The University of Auckland. She is the Vice-President of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division (Division III) of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and an Associate Editor for Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry.

Associate Professor Catherine Whitby

Catherine is an Associate Professor in Chemistry at Massey University, appointed in late October 2014. Prior to this she was an ARC Future Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the Ian Wark Research Institute at the University of South Australia. She is a physical chemist with expertise in colloid and surface chemistry. Catherine is also the elected representative for MacDiarmid Institute Associate Investigators on the Science Executive.

Professor Viji Sarojini

Dr Viji Sarojini is a Professor in the School of Chemical Sciences at The University of Auckland.

Dr Michel Nieuwoudt is a research scientist at the Photon Factory in the School of Chemical Sciences,  University of Auckland.

Dr Laura Domigan

Laura Domigan completed her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Canterbury. Her postdoctoral research was at Tufts University, Boston, in a lab where they studied silk materials, renowned for their strength. She returned to New Zealand in 2015 to join the University of Auckland.
