Roger has made a massive contribution to Oxide Semiconductor research within the Institute. This research area provides key enabling technologies for next generation solar cells, new environmental/health-related sensors, carbon capture and water purification catalysts, and UV detectors for primary skin cancer prevention.

Imagine a point-of-care electronic blood test that can provide an immediate result in a doctor’s surgery, instead of the current tests that have to be sent away to a lab. The blood test device would plug into a mobile phone to provide a reading, and would be cheap and biofriendly.
