The Student and Post Doc Symposium 2008 – “An Overview of Institute Expertise”

The Symposium “An Overview of Institute Expertise” was held at Victoria University of Wellington on the 10th and 11th of November. There were 45 participants drawn from the six partner sites of the Institute and from the University of Auckland.

Eric LeRu, associate investigator in the Institute, organised the symposium which coincided with a meeting of the principal investigators of the Institute on the 10th of November.

The meeting of principal investigators was an opportunity for each of the 6 theme leaders to make a short presentation about the work in their theme. There were also three invited speakers: Gareth Chaplin – Director of Strategy, NZTE, Andrew Coy – Magritek Limited, Sally Davenport – Commerce and Administration VUW.

A dinner was held for all at which Paul Callaghan, aided by Eric LeRu, compered the fiercely competitive quiz.

The meeting and symposium alignment was an outstanding success and will be, hopefully, repeated.
