Funding boost will help joint science projects with iwi groups
Project leader (MacDiarmid Institute Principal Investigator) Andreas Markwitz, of GNS Science, said findings would lead to an improved understanding of the health effects of volcanic eruptions and geothermal events in the central North Island.
“The improved knowledge and understanding will help to underpin health monitoring and support geothermal and Māori tourism. It will also help to identify ways to build community resilience to these events and act as a guide to future scientific investigations,” Dr Markwitz said.
