Theme 6: The intersection of Nanoscience and Biology

This theme combines a group of researchers who, together with their collaborators, have a unique set of skills and facilities to tackle research problems at the intersection of nanoscience and biology. Additionally, we continuously endeavour to identify productive new research partnerships in academia and industry, especially through collaborative platforms such as the Institute’s 'Bionanonetwork'.

In bionanotechnology, the biological world can act as either the inspiration or the end-goal, and our work covers both. Research topics use biological building blocks and biomimicry, or physical nanotechnologies applied to biological investigations. In each case, dedicated physical sciences expertise from across the Institute contributes to the research.
