Ultra-sensitive laser spectroscopy (Etchegoin, LeRu, Tilley)

Amongst the recent developments, our group has demonstrated the possibility of performing single-molecule electrochemistry and to reveal anharmonic interactions of single molecules on surfaces.  This objective will also include more applied pursuits of ultra-sensitive spectroscopy, like our recent development of a microscope to work in the so-called “Kretschmann configuration”.  This instrument has just been developed and will allow us to detect minute changes of molecules depositing on gold substrates – as it is done in surface-plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy, but with the additional power of Raman spectroscopy.  A list of recent publications relating to these latest developments can be found in the group’s webpage: www.vuw.ac.nz\raman.
