The MacDiarmid Institute is a Centre of Research Excellence hosted by Victoria University of Wellington.  We  are  seeking  an  individual  with  a  strong  passion  for  scientific  research  and  education and the  desire  to lead an institute  of high  national and international standing. The  successful  applicant    will    have    an    excellent    track    record    in    materials    science    or  nanotechnology  research  as  measured  by  international  standards,  as  well  as  experience  in  leading  people  and  providing  academic  leadership.  Having  additional  relevant experience  in  budgeting ,  planning,  and   managing  resources  and  stakeholder  engagement  is  desirable. The successful applicant for the MacDiarmid Institute directorship will be offered permanent  employment  as the  Alan MacDiarmid  Professor  in  the  School  of  Chemical  and  Physical  Sciences.  Concomitant with the high expectations placed on incumbents of a  named chair, the  Alan  MacDiarmid  Professor  will  make  substantial  contributions  to  research,  teaching  and  service  during  and  beyond  the  tenure  of  the  directorship  role.
