Student and Postdoc Symposium 2010

We plan to have 18 PhD students presenting their work in 20-minute talks (including question time) over the two days. In addition there are two special sessions planned:
- an opening held with the PI contingent featuring a lecture from Daniel Nocera (MIT Chemistry)
- a postdoc-led discussion focussed on managing collaboration
Registration is now closed.
For entertainment we will likely have a student-postdoc-PI quiz evening before dinner with the PIs. Natalie and I are still discussing whether we will us
e Scottish or American questions in the quiz. Except for the few exceptions above and a closing session the entire student symposium will be off limits to PIs and guided by the postdoctoral contingent.
We urge every student associated with a MacDiarmid programme to submit a one-page abstract by 1 September to Sarah Dadley. We will chose twelve for oral presentations, with another six oral presentations by students nominated by the six themes. All other abstracts will be scheduled into a poster and beer session.
Awards will be made for the best talks and posters.
