New Director for the MacDiarmid Institute

The MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology is delighted to announce that Dr Thomas Nann has been appointed as the new Director of the Institute, and will start with us on 17th August. Along with this appointment, Thomas will also be Professor at Victoria University of Wellington, in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. Thomas is a Physical Chemist by training, and his recent research has focused on the synthesis, characterisation, and application of nanomaterials Thomas is currently the Director of the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) in the South Australian node, and under his direction this institute has become the fastest growing node of the ANFF. He is also the Associate Director of, and Professor with, the Ian Wark Research Institute. In these roles he is involved in strategy, research, and both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Thomas is a committed and enthusiastic research and teaching academic, with a proven history in leading research institutes, and Mike Wilson and I are delighted to welcome him to both the MacDiarmid Institute, and Victoria University.
