Mātauranga Māori, Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Victoria University of Wellington 19-20 November 2015 Tēnā koutou katoa The theme of the 2015 Student and Postdoc Symposium is ‘Mātauranga Māori, Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials’. Mātauranga Māori encompasses historic, local, and traditional knowledge; systems of knowledge transfer and storage; and goals, aspirations and issues from a Māori perspective. Mātauranga Māori is likely to become increasingly important and prevalent in science in New Zealand. The aim of this symposium is to provide an introduction to this concept, and to stimulate some discussion on what it means in the fields of nanotechnology and advanced materials. The symposium is also a chance to share your research and see what else is going on in the MacDiarmid Institute. It’s a great opportunity to practice for an upcoming conference or meeting, and all attendees should present a poster or oral presentation. We look forward to seeing you in te Upoko o te Ika a Maui in November. The MacDiarmid Student and Postdoc Symposium is open to any student whose supervisor is a MacDiarmid Investigator, whether funded or unfunded. We will pay for one night’s accommodation at Te Puni Village and meals. You or your supervisor will need to organise and pay for your travel.
