Topological-insulator properties of HgTe quantum wells: Introduction & Recent results
Proffessor Laurens Molenkamp, University of Wuerzburg, Germany
Prof Molenkamp is an experimental physicist studying the electric and magnetic properties of nano-structured semiconductors. He was awarded numerous prizes, including the 2012 Oliver Buckley Prize of the American Physical Society, for experimental observations that established HgTe quantum wells to be a realisation of an unconventional type of material called topological insulator. Prof Molenkamp currently serves as the Editor of Physical Review B, the leading international journal for condensed matter physics and materials science.
