NanoCamp is a week long science camp delving into nanoscience and nanotechnologoy. Selected students will have a full week of residential lab experience with the Institute’s top scientists, completing hands-on investigations into various topics including electron microscopy, laser physics and nano-electronics.
We’re looking for current year 12 and 13 secondary students with a demonstrated interest in science. NanoCamp provides these students a unique opportunity to work with our partners and scientists in research laboratories, with post graduate students providing day-to-day mentoring.
NanoCamp is intended to nurture students’ interest in science, expose them to possible career options and encourage them to enrol in a science degree programme at tertiary level. While academic achievement is important for the selection process, so too are personal goals and teacher references.
• One week residential programme incorporating laboratory experience and social activities (12-15 participants)
• Open to any Year 12 and 13 students with a strong interest in science
• 15 – 20 January 2017 at The University of Otago, Dunedin
• It’s free! All travel, accommodation and meals are included in the programme.
“I really enjoyed my time at Nanocamp. I made friends I am still in contact with and it introduced me to what tertiary study
would be like. I chose materials engineering partly due to my time at Nanocamp.”
