The 10th MacDiarmid Student and Postdoc Symposium will be held at the University of Auckland on 24-25 November 2014.

This year’s symposium is about how our science can fit into the commercial world and focusses on different aspects of the early stages of the commercialization process. There will be a number of informative talks as well as student presentations, workshops and poster sessions judged by industry and innovation networks .

Get ready and start thinking about your work from an application standpoint. The deadline for registration and poster submission will be 24 October. The reason for an early deadline is that all posters will go through the relevant technology transfer offices, as a first exercise in commercialization mindset and to make sure nothing sensitive is disclosed when the event takes place.

You will be asked to upload your poster (as a PDF) when you register, or alternatively a copy of your presentation if you hae already been selected for an oral presentation.  Poster size should be landscape format size A1.  Judges will be looking for communication of your science to industry, in such a way that it illustrates possible applications or commercial outcomes – now or in the future.  Once you have made your poster, start practising your best “elevator pitch” where you deliver the core idea
within one minute. Keep it simple and succinct.  Make it a good one, there is prize money attached for the best contributions!
