As they develop a deeper understanding in their subject area, new opportunities for research materialise. Real value to society comes when research is transferred from the lab to the outside world. The enquiring minds of scientists are responsible for the environment in which we now live and will live as research is transferred into impact that affects our everyday lives.
Publicly funded research organisations such as universities and CRIs are actively supporting scientific transfer into industry. They have established Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) to support researchers in the commercialisation process. TTO’s are part of an ecosystem which is designed to provide structured support, expertise and when needed funds to assist with the transfer. The New Zealand science commercialisation collaborative ecosystem comprises of various nationwide team initiatives such as Return on Science, the KiwiNet Innovation Network (KiwiNet) and the MacDiarmid Science Commercialisation Programme. This symposium aims to give you an overview of these support structures available to you to help get your ideas out there.
Who should attend?
If you are asking this question, then this is for you. The full day event is focused on raising awareness of the support that is readily available to all researchers. This event will give you the opportunity to connect with other likeminded researchers and commercialisation staff that can help you make your ideas a reality.
