PhD position in “ultra-sensitive laser spectroscopy” at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
Working at the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences (http://www.vuw.ac.nz/scps/)and the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanothechnology (http://www.macdiarmid.ac.nz/)
One PhD. positions starting in mid-2012 (negotiable) is available in the area of ultra-sensitive laser spectroscopy by surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), as well as single molecule Raman detection (under the supervision of Pablo Etchegoin and Eric Le Ru). The research is to be carried out in the Raman laboratory at Victoria University of Wellington in the heart of New Zealand’s political capital. The project will involve both experimental and theoretical aspects of surface-plasmon resonances and nano-optics. Recent publications from the group can be found in the lab’s web-page (www.vuw.ac.nz/raman). Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and a proven academic record are essential.
